Amazon Web Services launched Bedrock 2 on July 20 2026 with a visual agent builder and 12 additional foundation models. The platform now supports multi-agent orchestration and real-time tool calling through a new SDK released the same day. AWS reported that 4,200 customers had preview access since May 2026.

New models include fine-tuned versions of Claude 3.7 and Llama 4 optimized for AWS silicon. The agent builder allows drag-and-drop workflow creation without writing code. Pricing starts at 0.0008 dollars per 1,000 input tokens for the base tier.

Bedrock originally launched in 2023 and reached 1.2 billion dollars in annualized revenue by March 2026. The service competes directly with Azure AI Studio and Google Vertex AI. AWS added 35,000 H100 and Trainium2 chips to its regions in June to support increased demand.

Why this matters

The update lowers barriers for enterprises building production AI agents without managing infrastructure. It strengthens AWS's position against specialized startups by bundling models with existing cloud contracts. Developers can now migrate existing LangChain applications to Bedrock with minimal code changes.

Further integrations with Amazon Q are scheduled for September 2026. The platform could capture 35 percent of the managed model market by the end of 2027 according to internal forecasts.
